Research has shown that after a person dies, brain activity may continue, but they are still declared dead.

Why? Because their heart and their breath have stopped, and eventually, the brain will follow.

This came to mind while listening to this weekend’s FORREAL Radio Broadcast with our Pastor, Chief Apostle H.C. Gunn, titled “Appointment With Death.”

In the broadcast, Chief Apostle Gunn helps us understand that we can be dead men and women walking—with broken fellowship with God, that looks like life, but in reality, we are headed to death: eternal damnation.

Just because we sound or look sincere when we pray, sing, praise, preach, serve, lay hands, play music, testify, witness, recite scripture, shout, speak in tongues, exalt the Word, give, or engage with our pastor or the saints doesn't mean we aren't dead to holiness and godliness.

How the physical body dies is evidence that just because something in us still appears to be working or moving, it doesn’t mean we are not dead to God. To be dead means to be separated from God.

We can say we are living for God because we can make it appear that way on the outside, but we are still crossing the fence to meet with sin on the other side: separation.

The broadcast brought forth this weekend is critical. It is a 9-1-1. It is a mayday. Our souls are in danger, and our spiritual lives are under threat if we don’t choose to truly know God.

In the Bible, when we often hear “and he knew” or “she knew” a person, it’s talking about intimacy. If you are not one with God, you are apart from him.

Below are excerpts and summaries from the message. It speaks for itself! And I want to listen!

Chief Apostle Gunn said:

  • You can be cut off from God, but the gifts in you still work. Gifts operating do not mean that you haven't abandoned your salvation.

What causes us to be cut off:

  • We settle.

  • We stop growing and become stagnant.

  • We ignore the truth and don't tell it either.

  • We live double lives, etc.

He continued:

  • You can have gifts and talents in the church but still not know God.

  • If you don’t know God, you will find yourself standing before him in fear of your eternal outcome.

  • Your words and gifts don’t get you where you think you should be. How you live is how you die—and how you will stand before the Lord if you do not change.

  • We cannot count on deathbed conversions, where we live how we want and try to get saved right before we die. What if it’s too late?

  • When you surrender to God and get saved, your countenance changes. God is all over you. You are full of the life of God, not just on the day you get saved.

  • Sometimes, how we lose the life of God is where we spend our time and who we spend our time with.

  • There is supposed to be a difference between light and darkness. But if you don’t choose to be the difference, darkness—the place of the dead to God and the place of judgment—is where you will find yourself.

God wants us to know and take heed today:

  • Judgment will be by your works also. Because faith without works is dead.

  • Don’t believe the lie that once you get saved, you are saved forever. If you have not changed, your faith is dead.

  • If you leave your salvation at the altar, it’s a dead salvation.

  • We will truly be judged out of the Book of Life, and other books will be opened during judgment. What will they say?

  • We will not be able to make the excuse that our parents or pastor didn’t teach us or show us something. Everyone is given an opportunity to learn of him, know him, and choose him.

Read:

Hebrews 9:27

Revelation 20:12–15

Don’t let this Word of God pass you by.

Chief Apostle Gunn urged us to: Cry out to God for our salvation like the blind man in Luke 18:35-43.

And after we receive him, we must keep crying out, reaching out, praying to him, and receiving him every day!
