Don't Be a Post: The Watch Letter

One recent Sunday, our Pastor, Chief Apostle H.C. Gunn said, "Don't be a post, be a pillar."
Let's look at the difference between them.
A pillar is solid, often made of concrete and stone, and can carry the weight of monuments and large structures. It is not easy to destroy or knock down.
A post is often made of metal and wood. It is generally smaller and can support things like fences, smaller homes, and porches.
When exposed to the elements of life and nature, a post is more prone to break down, and rot, rust and warp. A pillar can stand for centuries and ages and not be subject to those elements.
A post may need to be replaced after a few decades.
When it comes to your place in God's kingdom, in the church, in the Body of Christ, in the ministry, in God's court, and even with in your home, which is also supposed to be house of prayer and worship, which one are you? A post or a pillar?
When you're out on your job, in school, in the community, or dealing with life in the home are you breaking down or building up? Can you last in God for eternity or only until something interrupts or disrupts you?
1 Corinthians 3 says: "But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. 11For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire."
Is your foundation of flesh or spirit? Flesh will not survive the fire; it is too weak and thin. But the spirit is indestructible and thick.
Don't be a post, be a pillar. They may look similar or do similar things, but they are not the same. Be the difference.
As Chief Apostle Gunn said: We need to know/have substance not just appearance. It's the only way we can stand.
