In the early 1980s, a gospel song by the Winans family titled “The Question Is” was released. To this day, it continues to be sung around the world.
The song reflects God’s desire to know the commitment and answers in someone’s heart toward Him.
Some of the questions include: Will you ever leave Me? Will you do My will? Do you believe I’m coming back soon?
The Lord is still asking these questions—and more—today.
While reviewing my notes from recent services over the past few months, my eyes were drawn to the questions the Lord asked through our Pastor and Chief Apostle, H.C. Gunn, during preaching and Bible study.
The Lord is looking for our answer, our response, and the action we will take.
Here are just some of the questions that have been asked or brought forth during recent services:
Who do you want to please most in your life?
Have you ever thought about how selfish you are—and how you act when you don't get your way?
Who or what are you going to be?
How about /where are God’s thank-yous?
How do you know you’re really under God’s influence and being influenced by the Godly counsel of your pastor? What are you really being influenced by?
What walls in our lives and homes do we refuse to let down or need to let down?
What kind of hell have you been raising?
What’s happening at your house?
Are you paying attention?
How much damage must be done before you decide to bring your sin and wicked ways to an end? Before you decide to come out of what you’re doing?
If you heard the testimony, why are you complaining about the test?
Why are you still playing with the enemy when you know he is out to destroy you?
Are you prepared for the judgment?
These questions remind me of those Jesus asked in the New Testament. Some examples include:
Why do you call me Lord and do not do what I command? Luke 6:46
If I am telling the truth, why do you not believe me? (John 8:46)
Will you really lay down your life for me? (John 13:38)
I have been with you so long, and still you don't know me? (John 14:9)
Do you love me more than these? Then keep my commandments? (John 21:15)
I leave these questions with each of us to answer.
